This design-based research (DBR) study explores the application of culturally responsive computing (CRC) principles in early childhood computer science education. As a teacher–researcher, the first author conducted three cycles of CRC-informed digital storytelling workshops with children (ages 4–6) from Korean immigrant families to support the children’s exploration and expression of their cultural and racial identities. Through analyzing various data types–video data from workshops and children’s tablet screens, interview data from the children and their parents, and children’s artifacts such as drawings and ScratchJr digital stories–, we provide practical examples of changes we made during our DBR study. Ultimately, we discuss our insights on implementing CRC principles in early childhood education contexts.
