The COVID-19 pandemic forced students to online learning, yet many students did not own computers nor access to internet services. While the school provided Chrome laptop computers and neighborhood hot spots so they could connect to the internet, not all students could take advantage of these services because parents had to work and some students had to look after younger non-school age siblings. Due to these challenges, the pandemic impacted the majority of Latina/o students in this school. The school experienced a marked decrease in attendance and level of engagement with online lessons. Despite the pattern of low attendance and lack of online participation, some students showed resilience given the limitations imposed by the pandemic and demonstrated success and growth.
