This systematic literature review discusses the ways Black teachers have helped Black students navigate civic estrangement since the beginning of the Black Lives Matter movement. Findings indicate that Black teachers are straightforward with students about the intersection of race and citizenship, help students develop a critical consciousness, and use their experiences, along with the experiences of their students, as a teaching tool.
