The Navajo Chapter House Methodology

Fri, April 12, 11:25am to 12:55pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

The Chapter House Framework, which is a framework I co-developed with family and community members, contributes to how place-based entities can inform Indigenous methodologies. A Chapter House is a physical structure that houses gatherings for Diné families. I position Chapter Houses as a relational entity to help build out the approach to a study of Native Faculty experiences. The Chapter House is not just a physical location but a relative that taught me how to keep my study relevant to the communities I aimed to support through research. The Chapter House Framework informed the protocols and interactions of my research procedures and collaboration with Native faculty and their lived experiences.
