Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine students’ experiences in an alternative math course that integrates computer science content and coding skills, called Discrete Math/Computer Science (DM/CS). A qualitative survey case study was conducted to investigate the following questions:
What compels high school students to enroll in alternative math courses that integrate computer science, such as DM/CS? How might alternative math courses that integrate computer science, such as DM/CS, impact high school students’ attitudes toward math and computer science?
