This paper examines the initial results of how middle and high school students from Brazil, Kenya, and USA establish social trust in an informal, online collaborative learning environment. In using epistemic network analysis to analyze online meetings known as global meet-ups, students from each of the countries contributed something unique to establishing social trust among the group as a whole during the initial formulation of the project community. While students utilized different and complementing strategies, all the student participants indicated a willingness to become more involved with each other, and in turn, creating a learning environment they are invested in.
