Minority-Serving Institutions Planting the Seed and Growing Racial/Ethnic Minoritized Leaders in Underserved Communities

Abstract

This paper presents research on the role of Hispanic Serving Institutions and Asian American and Pacific Islander Serving Institutions in promoting the civic development—the capacity to be socially and/or politically civically engaged—of Latinx and Asian American and Pacific Islander students. The article focuses on the civic pedagogies used to promote the civic development of Latinx and AAPI students and the communities they serve using a case study approach.
