Educator and Leadership Challenges in Selecting and Implementing Evidence-Based Interventions in Schools and Districts

Sun, April 14, 7:45 to 9:15am, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

Since passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), educational leaders and decision-makers have been charged with ensuring that their school-improvement initiatives are evidence-based and thus expected to achieve identified outcomes for students and schools. However, there are often challenges and barriers to the selection, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based practice for school/district educators as well as higher education partners. Our paper will detail some of challenges identified by participants in a methods training workshop meant to strengthen evidence-based intervention knowledge and practice within the framework of the cycle of continuous improvement.
