Utilizing Whiting’s (2006) scholar identity model, this qualitative study explores the experiences of 16 Black undergraduate men in two Black male initiatives at historically White institutions. By centering student narratives, this study underscores how two BMIs developed the scholar identity of Black collegiate men, which furthered their academic success in college and thereafter.
