Undergraduate Women’s Physics Identity: Importance of Leadership and Mentorship

Sat, April 13, 1:15 to 2:45pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

This qualitative survey and interview study explores how undergraduate women developed a physics identity. Our team analyzed 120 survey responses and 15 interviews to understand how women in physics define physics identity and how our theorized factors (leadership, mentorship, and career conceptualization) were associated with an individual’s physics identity.
