Changing the Game: Tensions and Possibilities in Grant-Funded Research That Aims to Dismantle Racial Injustice

Fri, April 12, 7:45 to 9:15am, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

Drawing on Lorde’s (1984) provocative admonishment – that “the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house” – this proposal is an invitation into a critical conversation on justice-centered, grant-funded work. Using a blend of personal narrative and insights from 18 combined years of leading grant funded work, we share critical lessons learned as we’ve attempted to write, manage and disseminate results from grant funded work with a very explicit aim/claim of education for liberation.
