In the spirit of critical reflexivity and auto-ethnographic methods, we ruminate on the specific learning experiences of our children (then 3 and 6 years old) during COVID19 lockdowns that were mediated by RuPaul’s Drag Race. Specifically, we consider how our family leveraged RPDR as one of many tools to prepare our children to understand and step up for LGBTQ+ communities in their own personal and schooling experiences. This work seeks to repair past harms inflicted upon Latinx and Black LGBTQ+ people in our own families and communities by enacting a utopian pedagogy.
