Do You Have Any Thriving Black Students? Troubling “Quality” in Early Childhood Education

Thu, April 11, 10:50am to 12:20pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 100, Room 111A

Abstract

What are the conflicts that arise for two Black mothers looking into educational programs for their children? What are the most important elements of a quality early childhood education program for parents of Black children? In this collaborative autoethnography, DiAquoi & Doucet explore the particular conflicts parents of Black children face when selecting early childhood education programs to encourage school leaders to engage Black families if they want to create antiracist schools for all children.
