Abstract

This research study investigates whether using motion media can enhance international students' understanding of the spirit of Christmas as it is celebrated in Western cultures, and in America in particular. Using film and music videos, the students research topics, discuss their findings, take notes during the motion media presentations, and complete a survey. The researcher/instructor hypothesized that the students would gain an average understanding, but was surprised at the students demonstrating a greater and thoughtful understanding of the spirit of Christmas.
