There is no doubt that increasing diversity in Computer Science (CS) has tremendous benefits. In this research study, we explore music as a pathway to CS by engaging middle and high school students at an after-school program with a musical robot over a 2-week period to introduce CS concepts such as algorithm design, problem decomposition and debugging. We measure interactions, interest and learning through pre-and post-tests and explore identity formation through this process.
