As a life-changing experience, study abroad provides chances for students to explore new cultures and learn languages. As a significant segment of English learning, pragmatics plays a vital role in completing successful communication. The current meta-analysis includes five relevant articles and investigates the impact of study abroad experiences on second language learners' pragmatic competence. Furthermore, students' English proficiency level is considered as a moderator variable in the study. By synthesizing findings from various studies, this research aims to contribute to the understanding of how study-abroad experiences affect the development of pragmatic competence of L2 English learners.
