Technology Literacy: A Fundamental Human Right

Fri, April 12, 4:55 to 6:25pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Room 204ABC

Abstract

Technology literacy has become a fundamental human right in the twenty-first century. This pilot study used observations of students and faculty in a university class to determine gaps in students' use of technology. The observation was paired with faculty and instructional designer interviews to understand their perspective on the existing gaps and how activities and assignments in class are intended to build skills. I argue that college curricula must include multiple technology skills to prepare students to be competent and prepared for their future.
