This research investigates student organizations as a vehicle towards black placemaking of black male students at predominantly white institutions. Drawing on the considered employment of a qualitative methods approach, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, and/or participant observation, to explore the experiences and perspectives of Black student leaders and members. Additionally, the research seeks to identify the characteristics and dynamics of these spaces, exploring their impact on the identity and leadership development and overall experiences of Black male students. The study aims to uncover the culturally relevant strategies employed by student organizations in fostering black placemaking. Findings from the research are expected to contribute to the conceptual advancement of black placemaking within higher education, inform culturally competent practices for supporting Black students, and offer practical recommendations for higher education stakeholders.
