A broad body of research indicates that the U.S. K-12 education system inadequately supports Black students' success due to conscious or unconscious anti-Black policies and practices (Darder, 2015). In response to continued disparities, some state and local education agencies are seeking to improve Black students' access to resources and opportunities. Drawing on publicly available information, we examine the current Black achievement policy landscape and identify common themes between existing policies. Emerging findings reveal three overarching themes addressing Black student achievement policy goals (the what), strategies (the how), and impact. We conclude with implications to inform ongoing policies that support Black students.
