"Abstract
Black parents face an education system that continuously marginalizes their children. Limited research centers the negotiation experiences of suburban Black parent activists and organizers seeking education for their children. Using BlackCrit and Black feminism as a theoretical framework, this paper seeks to answer: How have these suburban Black activist parents navigated the education system and what are their hopes for their children in the context of contemporary education discourse? Four major themes emerged: freedom dreaming, antiblackness, critical consciousness, and intersectionality of race, class, and gender. This paper will be expanded into a comparative analysis for the AERA conference."
