This multi-case study addresses the gap of research on the stress experiences of early career engineering faculty pursuing tenure, focusing on the industrial engineering discipline within the Big Ten Academic Alliance. Guided by Lazarus & Folkman's stress, appraisal, and coping theory, the study employs qualitative methods, to explore stressors and coping mechanisms. Anticipated findings will be around unique stressors in industrial engineering, gender-specific challenges, diverse coping mechanisms, and the impact of institutional context. This research will contribute theoretically and empirically, bridging a literature gap, and aims to inform interventions, support systems, and policies for fostering well-being and resilience among early career engineering faculty.
