This study explores the relationship between Black youth learners' literacy attainment and creative thinking. We are interested in the development of critical and innovative thinking skills in Black youth learners as essential cognitive abilities in the rapidly evolving techno-human emergent global society. We hope to provide correlational inferences between individual and school characteristics in relation to opportunities to learn and develop creative thinking skills in U.S. schooling contexts. This study is to be exploratory in nature, aiming to extend critical literacy and Black education research related to Black students' future preparedness for cultural sustainability and evolution.
