The education of immigrant youth and English language learners have shifted over the years depending on the various educational policies in place and on the U.S mainstream political attitude towards immigrants. Immigrant students and multilingual learners have the highest high school dropout rates in the country, except when we look at international network schools, schools like "global high" have an 80 + average of graduation while serving only immigrant youth and multilingual learners. This project draws on ethnographic work that explores how alumni of Global High reflect on navigating learning in a new language, a new culture and a new land all while preparing for college and career paths. The research aims to answer the following questions: "How do alumni students of Global High reflect on their schooling experience through their identities of language learners and immigrants?" "What, if any, are the shared experiences of these alumni that allowed them to successfully complete graduation requirements in NYC high schools and go into college or career paths?"
