The Asian Pacific American Cultural Center (APACC) at the University of Iowa was founded through political activism of the students. However, the recent and current students have forgotten that history. One way this manifests is an emphasis on cultural celebration without a political base. In this paper, I argue that their loss of a political base has harmed their ability to create liberatory counter spaces in the APACC.
