Existing research on belonging often refers to a sense of place. It lacks discussion on how the design of physical space and if or how it fosters a sense of belonging at the campus (Mantooth, 2020), particularly for historically marginalized students. This research study explores the relationship between marginalized students' sense of belonging, campus racial culture, and physical campus spaces. Utilizing ecological, psychological, and belonging frameworks with a social framework, co-authors analyze qualitative interviews with narrative thinking and dimensions of plot to capture findings on sense of belonging in physical campus spaces.
