Abstract

"This research addresses barriers to higher education in Uganda amid significant population growth projections from 2023 to 2100. Utilizing the capability approach by Sen and Nussbaum, the study explores multifaceted challenges faced by Ugandans in pursuing higher education, emphasizing economic, informational, and sociocultural factors. Employing diverse methods such as qualitative interviews, surveys, and content analysis of university websites, the research provides a comprehensive examination.
Preliminary findings reveal a complex interplay of economic limitations, information disparities, and sociocultural factors shaping Ugandan applicants' capabilities to access higher education. The ongoing analysis aims for a refined understanding, with anticipated completion by mid-April 2023. The research aims to contribute valuable insights to the academic discourse on higher education accessibility and development."
