Sun, April 14, 11:25am to 12:55pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Room 204ABC

Abstract

Educators are found to be lack in confidence working with diverse students and families. The purpose of this study is to determine the current state of the art regarding the multicultural teaching competence of preservice teachers in a community where the white population is still the largest racial group in public schools. This study will (1) investigate the status of preservice teachers' multicultural teaching competence and (2) it will explore possible variables that might impact differences in the multicultural teaching competence of the participants in a period of rapid ethno-cultural diversification from a white majority community.
