Assessing Educators' Readiness to Integrate Artificial Intelligence into Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

Sun, April 14, 11:25am to 12:55pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Room 204ABC

Abstract

This project develops a survey to assess university educators' readiness to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching and learning. As AI promises to amplify learning and teaching, successful assimilation depends on faculty preparedness. However, diagnostics evaluating key readiness dimensions are lacking. A self-report instrument measuring educators' AI knowledge, perceived benefits/barriers, and institutional support was created drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model. After pretesting and piloting for reliability/validity, the measure will undergo analysis to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities to inform policies facilitating classroom AI adoption. With AI adoption in higher education poised to accelerate, this research provides an essential tool for administrators to gauge educator readiness for AI and guide transformations toward fully unleashing AI's benefits.
