This research project sets out to identify the reasons for student rejection of teacher and peer feedback. Based on feedback models, factors in the feedback process include: context, source, feedback message, recipient characteristics, and recipient processing. Hence, those can all be reasons for rejecting feedback. Although there have been a vast number of studies explaining what learners need in order to accept feedback, there has been less research done exploring specific reasons behind students' feedback rejection. 199 tertiary level students responded to two prompts regarding feedback rejection. Essays were coded by two researchers, using Atlas.ti (Krippendorff's a > 0.8). Preliminary results highlight why students have rejected feedback from instructors and peers: negative emotions, lack of trust, etc.
