Session Type: Symposium
In this session, participants will learn about the raciolinguistic perspective on the interplay of language and race in social and educational interaction—from not only theoretical literature but also detailed portraits of lived raciolinguistic experiences of marginalized and marginalizers. Presenters are experienced educators in the field of language education who identify on a continuum of multilingual, multinational, and transnational backgrounds. The stories, as they transcend time and space, poignantly illustrate the impact of being seen through a racialized lens, while also demonstrating ways scholars can assert agency in responding to, or resisting, racializing positionings.
