Session Type: Symposium
This town hall meeting aims to dismantle the silence surrounding Asian and Asian American experiences in bilingual education. It also challenges the prevailing narratives and stereotypes by radically accepting rich diversity and complexity within the Asian/Asian American communities as well as our unique perspectives, contributions, and experiences. Guided by critical lenses and central questions, this meeting seeks to foster solidarity and community building to galvanize and empower the untapped potential of Asian/Asian American voices among Asian communities. In doing so, we aim to pave the way for collective and transformative change, expanding the roles of Asian/Asian American researchers and educators and developing strategies to support marginalized and silenced students and families in bilingual education.
