Session Type: Symposium
This interactive symposium brings together practitioners and researchers to explore the transformative potential of Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education (CR-SE) practices in Computer Science (CS) education. Grounded in the experience of a large urban city, we will explore the design and implementation of a districtwide ecosystem of support for equity from the perspective of the designers and implementers, as well as researchers who have collected data on the implementation and outcomes of the efforts. The presentations and discussion will contribute to the scholarly understanding of what it means to build an “equity ecosystem,” as well as the challenges and facilitators to building and supporting educators’ capacity to implement CR-SE in CS.
