Session Type: Symposium
Since age-integrated education was initiated by the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in 1961, there has been a necessity to educate citizens on how to better-survive and live in such an aging world. The increased longevity and worldwide aging perspectives, receiving little attention, have not been successfully integrated into educational practices and curriculum development. This symposium advocates for multiple knowledge bases and diverse methodologies in lifelong education and calls for new theories and practices that better serve and educate senior people with diverse cultural backgrounds, and empower educators to ensure social justice, life quality, and educational possibilities of an aging population during a time of disruption.
