Session Type: Roundtable Session
This roundtable delves into the realm of assessment and feedback in education, focusing on the teacher side of assessment. Researchers will explore gender biases in grading and feedback provision, investigating the use of analytic grading rubrics to mitigate biases. Additionally, the development of an instrument to assess pre-service teacher attitudes and beliefs towards grading as feedback will be discussed. Findings from New Zealand’s national assessment program will shed light on teacher self-efficacy and formative assessment practices among math teachers. Lastly, effective approaches to transform teacher attitudes towards assessment and feedback will be synthesized. Scholars from the US, New Zealand, and Spain promise to provide valuable insights into improving assessment practices, fostering fairness, and enhancing feedback mechanisms in educational contexts.
