Session Type: Symposium
Comparative research on education politics and policy has changed dramatically over the last few years. This shift has been largely facilitated by the greater availability and granularity of cross-national data allowing for more extensive (large-N) research designs. Recent efforts to compile panel data have operated as a game-changer, paving the way for a longitudinal perspective on the study of educational reform and expanding the horizon for comparative historical analysis of education policy. This symposium aims at showcasing this new generation of education policy studies grappling with the comparative study of education reforms from a large-N perspective. To this end, it will feature different ongoing research projects addressing the determinants and consequences of the changing organization and governance of education systems.
