Session Type: Symposium
The feminist movement 2018 and the political-social crisis of 2019 have brought attention to gender dynamics within universities. Women´s participation in higher education is crucial for research, cultural values, and training. In 2021, Chile enacted a law addressing sexual harassment and gender discrimination in universities, promoting gender equality policies. Women’s representation has increased undergraduate enrollment at the women´s faculty level. However, they still lag in education level, especially at the doctoral level. This symposium discusses gender inequalities in the context of relatively new gender policy and institutional levels. The studies cover gender and feminism in academic spaces, responses to non-sexist Education demands, and a mentoring program to reduce gender inequalities in a Chilean research university.
