Session Type: Workshop
Storytelling and story gathering are conceptualized in this workshop as a means to build community, disrupt colonial epistemes, and contribute to more liberated forms of shared living within the context of educational research and teaching. The goal of the panel is to (re)center community in public education reform by ensuring that the underrepresented emerge as narrators and experts of their own experiences.
The first half of this interactive workshop consists of a brief exploration of three distinct approaches to center storytelling and story gathering praxis, specifically in Latinx communities. During the second half, panelists will facilitate an interactive workshop where attendees will be supported in theorizing their own liberatory approach specific to the educational context and communities they work with.
