Session Type: Symposium
This symposium proposal unites scholars with interests in multiple areas including decolonial studies, special education, sociology of education, and policy studies. Through this discussion, we the authors attempt to disrupt and deconstruct racial inequities through the critical examination of inclusive education, addressing factors such as culture, history, and context. We are interested in how these aspects interplay in both perpetuating and dismantling systemic racial injustices in educational settings. In this way, our session offers a unique assemblage of contours and perspectives shaping inclusive education to strengthen our collective capacity and vigor for confronting racial injustice through intersectional inclusive education. Our session format engages inter-presenter-audience dialogue to give space to the unique intersections and insights that arise from our work.
