Session Type: Symposium
With bigger classrooms, budget cuts, fewer pedagogical resources, and tremendous technological advancement, how can we continue immersing our students in educational experiences that cultivate the creative skills they need to thrive and succeed during difficult times? One educational approach that has caught the interest of many is design. As we will present in this symposium, educators across disciplines have utilized design-based frameworks, projects, and methods to achieve a wide range of classroom and institutional goals. Our panel comprises three research papers by six authors from six universities in Canada and Australia that share participants’ experiences of creativity education and how design-based approaches can support the development of creative ecologies in higher education.
