Session Type: Symposium
Middle level education was developed in support of the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of young adolescents, a hallmark of which is a focus on identity exploration and development, a topic much debated in today's world. Through the presentation of current research summaries and the proposal of future research directions related to the following middle level topics: curriculum; leadership; pedagogies; learning environments; teacher development; social emotional wellbeing; and young adolescent identity and experiences, this symposium will provide space for middle level researchers to develop an agenda for future research that conceptualizes a plan for how to move middle level education forward in support of young adolescents within the current divisive climate.
