Session Type: Symposium
This symposium follows an adapted consultancy protocol to examine individual coaching for equity in three leadership preparation programs in California. The authors, all program directors and coaches of leadership candidates, will each briefly present research on their work, addressing: (1) the impact of individual coaching on Latina candidates’ sense of agency, leadership presence, and ability to lean into conflict; (2) a coaching framework designed to empower new school leaders to effectively address inequity; and (3) professional learning spaces designed to support the continual development of coaches. The audience and the discussant will have the opportunity to ask questions in the middle. The discussant, a high-level state official, will provide additional perspective, and we will end with reflection from the authors.
