Session Type: Off-Site Visit
The creation of child-friendly cities that contribute to lifelong success is an increasingly urgent scientific and policy matter with 70% of children globally projected to live in cities by 2050 (UNICEF Global Report, 2018). The Playful Learning Landscapes (PLL) initiative responds to this by transforming everyday spaces where families spend time together into playful learning opportunities. These spaces are co-created with communities and draw on rigorous scientific research to maximize intergenerational interaction while building social and academic capital. In this off-site visit session, attendees will learn more about the initiative through an immersive, guided tour to several PLL installations around Philadelphia.
