Session Type: Working Group Roundtable
The Dynamic Systems Model of Role Identity (DSMRI) provides a holistic metatheoretical framework for motivation, engagement and learning through identity development. It aims to capture actions and analyze the content, structure, and process of those actions on identity development. The four components of the model include ontological and epistemological beliefs, purpose and goals, self-perceptions and self-definitions, and perceived action possibilities. Given the primary unit of analysis is the social context in which the development occurs, the range of research initiatives using DSMRI is ever expanding (e.g., youth-adult, student-teacher, high school-university). This working group roundtable provides an outlet for substantive exchange and interaction among researchers who are using, or seek to adopt, the DSMRI across various social-cultural contexts.
