Session Type: Symposium
This symposium brings together three of the nation’s leading higher education research enterprises to share insights about the prevalence of racial inequality in college students’ experiences. Drawing on data from the National Assessment of Collegiate Campus Climates, National Survey of Student Engagement, and a matched longitudinal sample from the College Senior Survey and Freshman Survey, presenters will offer a overview of racial disparities in perceptions of campus climate and factors that influence it, student engagement, and relationships with faculty. Drawing on survey findings presented, and in alignment with this year’s conference theme, session organizers will create space for presenters and attendees to construct “interventions of possibilities” that address oppressive institutional structures and improve the conditions of racially minoritized students nationally.
