Session Type: Symposium
In this symposium, we are inviting a conversation about research positionality and the process of expressing one´s voice for those who feel identified with decolonial studies. We draw from Decolonial theories, Women of Color feminisms, Postcolonial theories, and LatCrit theories that reinforce the value of communities´ knowledge. We propose a transnational dialogue between Chile, México and the United States to problematize how the positionality of researchers with decolonial aspirations gets enacted in research projects considering diverse experiences across places, languages, and ways of knowing. In doing this, we will also discuss our own theoretical/methodological/political decisions reflected in the notions of pedagogies of abundance, immigrant pedagogies, and testimonios as a research methodology.
Pedagogies of Abundance: Pausing, Feeling, and Recognizing Our Knowledges in Academia - Iris Viveros, University of Washington; Roxana Chiappa, Universidad de Tarapaca
Immigrant Pedagogies in Northern Chile: Giving Space to My Identity Formation as Researcher - Manuel A. Pérez-Troncoso, PUCV-CIAE Postdoctoral Researcher
Revolutionary Testimonios That Heal: Testimonio as a Research and Healing Tool - Elizabeth Ramírez Arreola, University of Washington
