Session Type: Symposium
Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Chicana feminisms have been utilized as conceptual
anchors and methodological tools to challenge racism, patriarchy, and white supremacy in the field of education for over two decades. Recently, scholars are fusing these two theoretical traditions to further commitments in their research with and for Communities of Color. This symposium brings together scholars who are utilizing Critical Race Feminista methodologies (CRFM) to theorize from the flesh (Moraga, 1983) and build relationships rooted in reciprocity, vulnerability, and healing as constitutive elements of research committed to humanizing practices. The aim is to advance a meaningful dialogue about the features and interests of CRFM and provide advice for those who seek to center this approach in educational inquiry.
