Session Type: Symposium
The Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity Program is a mid-career university-based leadership development program that strives for transformative change guided by principles and practices which have sustained generations of First Peoples. The values, behaviours and knowledge systems that have sustained Indigenous communities set Indigenous-led approaches to social change aside from others. Central to this is the critical role of relationships, and the fabric of kinship and cultural practices embedded within and across communities, including global communities. This session considers the curricula, pedagogical and evaluative approaches informing this decolonizing program and the broader global network of social change hubs of which it is part. The papers offer exemplars of innovative practice, identify dilemmas that arise, and outline fruitful lines of theorizing.
