Session Type: Symposium
This session attends to research with Black and Indigenous youth about reclaiming relations to urban lands and waters. We will share five papers from three participatory youth projects. First, Project A based in Toronto, engaged Black and Indigenous youth with an interest in climate justice, and involved the co-design of podcast episodes that focus on urban land and water relations. Second, Project B based in Toronto, focused on what urban Indigenous, Black, and Black-Indigenous youth desire from land-education programs. Finally, Project C based in Oakland, is a multi-year mixed-methods project engaging with BIPOC youth involved in a land education program on rematriated land. Our session shares findings from each study.
