Session Type: Symposium
Research has shown that school leaders play a crucial role in supporting student achievement, school climate, and collaboration. While leadership preparation programs are expected to prepare aspiring leaders by providing them with the content knowledge and experiential know-how to be effective leaders, greater attention to research that showcases the preparation of justice leaders equipped to lead through equity-oriented, inclusive, and antiracist practices is needed. The papers in this session offer examples of HIPs shown to have a profound influence on aspiring candidates’ leadership identity and practices – including and especially for candidates of color. The session offers a pathway for the construction of educational possibilities in the preparation of antiracist leaders equipped to disrupt and dismantle racial injustice in P12 schools.
