Session Type: Symposium
This symposium focuses on the spatial conditions of learning, attending to diverse material conditions at different scales, such as school architecture, community context, and the encoded space of software platforms. The four papers in this session argue that spatial theories provide a critical view of learning, raising awareness of how space and place are pivotal parameters in learning processes. The first paper looks closely at school buildings, the second at learning trajectories across urban landscapes, the third at mobile learning units, and the fourth at virtual learning platforms. Each paper offers distinctive methodological techniques to advance the learning sciences.
